The Harry Crowe Foundation is committed to protecting personal information provided by individual donors.
If you provide personal information to us, you can do so with the understanding that it will be protected. Whether in electronic or paper-based format, the Foundation maintains strict security systems to safeguard your information from unauthorized access, disclosure or misuse. As well, when we no longer need your personal information, it will be safely destroyed.
In the event that we transfer your personal information to a third party for processing (for example mail house distribution) we contractually require any organization to protect our members' confidentiality in a manner consistent with our procedures or as required by law.
Web Site
The Harry Crowe Foundation is committed to respecting the privacy of all visitors to our web site. Our policy is clear: we will collect no personal information about you when you visit our web sites unless you choose to provide that information to us.
Information Automatically Collected and Stored
If you do nothing during your visit but browse through our web site, read pages, or download information, we will gather and store certain information about your visit automatically. This information does not identify you personally. We automatically collect and store only the following information about your visit:
- The Internet Protocol (IP) address from which you access our web site;
- The date and time you access our site;
- The pages you visit.
We use this information for statistical analysis to help us make our site more useful to visitors. Such information is not correlated with any personal information.
Personally Provided Information
You do not have to give us personal information to visit our web site. If you choose to provide us with additional information about yourself through an e-mail message or form, we will only maintain the information as long as needed to respond to your question or to fulfill the stated purpose of the communication.
Use of Cookies
We may use cookies from time to time. A cookie is a unique text file that a web site can send to your browser software. We use non-persistent cookies within multiple page online forms to remember you from page to page. These cookies do not store any personal information and are deleted at the end of your visit. Rejecting cookies will make these forms unusable.
Security
The Foundation employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. This software receives and records the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer that has contacted our network, the date and time of the visit and the pages visited. We make no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting our site unless an attempt to damage a site has been detected.
In certain areas, such as when you provide credit card information to us, we work to help protect the security of your information during transmission by using industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology.
Consent
The Harry Crowe Foundation accepts the following two methods as your consent for existing and future collection, use and disclosure of your personal information for identified purposes:
- your express written consent or oral consent as obtained through the donation process
- implied consent by requesting information or assistance from the Foundation
The achievement of the Foundation's objectives involves communicating with donors and potential donors. If an individual member does not consent, then his/her personal information shall be used by the Harry Crowe Foundation for purposes of communicating with the individual only for identified purposes and shall not be provided to anyone else.
